Beginning Monday, June 20th, the Mississippi Insurance Department will begin hosting statewide town hall meetings on the creation of Mississippi’s Health Insurance Exchange. There will be an opportunity for you provide input into the planning process at these meetings. It is important that you make yourself a part of this process to ensure that a fair, accessible, and accountable Exchange will be available for all Mississippians.
Health Insurance Exchanges are a cornerstone of the Affordable Care Act. When established, they will serve as the single point of entry for Mississippians to access and apply for private insurance, public insurance such as Medicaid and CHIP, and subsidies. Mississippi must create a Health Insurance Exchange by 2014 in order to avoid the federal government from creating and running one.
