MS House, Senate Bills Further Disenfranchise by Requiring Personal Care Attendants (PCS) to be Registered Voters

Rep. Bill Denny authored HB118. This bill would prohibit anyone who is not a registered voter from assisting voters at polls.

This bill means that a individual with a disabilities who need assistance to vote – living in the community would have to have a registered voter to assist them. Many of our citizens are living in the community on waivers that provide them with personal care attendants (PCS). It is none of our business if an employee is registered to vote!!! We would hope everyone would register and vote. But this bill is just another way of disfranchising individuals with disabilities and seniors from their right to vote as citizens of this great country. Will individuals who have attendants and other employees have to require their employees to be registered voter before they can be hired?

Please contact Rep Denny and ask him to amend this bill.
