New Enrollment Period For MS CAN PUBLIC MEETINGS ACROSS THE STATE

BACKGROUND
The Division of Medicaid implemented a Coordinated Care Program called Mississippi Coordinated Access Network (MississippiCAN) January 1, 2011.
Beneficiaries who qualified for this program had the choice to either:
- enroll in a coordinated care health plan
- choose to stay in the traditional Medicaid ‘fee for service’ program (Opt Out)
- If you did neither by a certain date, you were automatically assigned to one of the coordinated care health plans (Magnolia Health Plan or United Healthcare)
The Beneficiaries included in the targeted populations for the MississippiCAN program include the following categories of eligibility (Only These Groups):
Aged, Blind, and Disable (not dually eligible – meaning those that have both Medicaid and Medicare)
- SSI recipients
- Disabled Child Living at Home Program
- Working Disabled
- Department of Human Services Foster Care Children
- Department of Health Breast/Cervical Cancer Group
NEW ENROLLMENT PERIOD
- 10-1-11 – MS Division of Medicaid will be sending out enrollment packets
a) Any Medicaid recipients who fall in the target groups listed above and are determined to be eligible by the MS Division of Medicaid should receive a packet.
b) IMPORTANT – All beneficiaries of the target groups will receive a packet even through you signed on or opted out last year. - If you are newly eligible for the MississippiCAN program, you must either
a)Choose one of the coordinated care health plans (Magnolia Health Plan or United HealthCare)
b)Or opt out (which means to stay on regular Medicaid ‘fee for service’)
c)Note that if you do not do one of the above (“a” or “b”) by the deadline (12/15/2011), you will be auto assigned to one of the coordinated care health plans (Magnolia Health Plan or United HealthCare) - If you are already covered by one of the coordinated care health plans, you can
a)Do nothing and you will remain with your existing coordinated care health plan
b)Switch coordinated care health plans
c)Or opt out (which means to stay on regular Medicaid ‘fee for service’) - 12/15/11 – Deadline for Medicaid to receive your forms (end of enrollment period)
- 1/1/2012 –All Medicaid MississippiCAN beneficiaries will be locked into the option they chose through the entire year of 2012
a)the coordinated care health plan (Magnolia Health or United Healthcare) or
b)Regular Medicaid ‘fee for service’
To help Mississippi Medicaid beneficiaries in the target group for MS CAN to better understand the procedure, the Division of Medicaid will be conducting 24 meeting statewide. Each meeting will be at least 2 hours (List of meetings, places and times attached)
